Village in the Valley (ViVa) is a nonprofit organization founded on four pillars to enrich the relationships within the black community. These pillars also serve as a conduit to connect the black community with the Rio Grande Valley and vice versa. The four pillars are:
- Community Engagement – fosters service, social advocacy, relationship building & civic duty.
- Economic Empowerment – entrepreneurial vitality, financial literacy, wellness & economic growth.
- Social & Cultural Connection – family value, self-awareness, mental and physical health & networking.
- Education & Training – professional development, career planning, multicultural competence, mentoring & black history knowledge, preservation & celebration.
