ViVa is founded on three pillars to enrich the relationships among the black community. The pillars also serve as a conduit to connect blacks to the Rio Grande Valley and vice versa. The pillars:
1) Culture – Celebrates and preserves Black heritage while fostering cross-cultural connections in the Rio Grande Valley through networking, family engagement, and cultural events that promote identity and well-being
2) Community – Builds meaningful connections through engagement, advocacy, and education—empowering collaboration, volunteerism, and leadership development within and beyond ViVa.
3) Commerce – Drives economic empowerment and minority sustainability through entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and business partnerships that enhance visibility and growth.
These pillars are foundational to elevate people for sustainability, growth and integration. Thus, not only does it take the black “village” to raise a child, but it also takes the diligence of members of the community to ensure the success of all our children. The result will create mutual respect for our cultural differences and understanding of our similarities.
